Alvor beaches are there to be enjoyed, and there are quite a few of them. We talked about two of them earlier, Alvor Beach and Praia dos Tres Irmaos, but there are at least a couple more that deserve our – and your – attention.

praia da rochaPraia da Rocha

Alvor village features some wonderfully picturesque beaches on either sides, and while Praia da Rocha is situated very close to Portimao – several kilometers away – it is still very well worth your visit if you’re visiting Alvor.

Praia da Rocha is a wide sweep of golden sand which features a wooden walkway running along its entire length; the walkway is flanked by a series of cafes and restaurant ready and willing to cater to the many visitors who come here all day.

Towards one end of the beach you’ll find the Fortaleza da Santa Caterina can be seen overlooking the shoreline. The fort has been there since 1691 and offers wonderful views over the whole beach, down to the marina – a very popular spot for people to watch the sunset.

The beach is very popular with water-sports enthusiasts, Praia da Rocha is very accessible especially by car, so with a rental car at your disposal you can easily get there from Alvor.

Praia Dona Ana

The Dona Ana Beach is one of the most photogenic beaches in the Algarve. This is located back towards Lagos and flanked by wonderfully majestic rock formations. These same rock formations hide grottos and inlets with flat, golden sand.

There are also a series of restaurants and bars embedded into the cliff walls so as to maximize the overall space on the beach.

Meia Praia

This beach stretched from the Lagos Marina to the river mouth – that’s about five kilometers of unbroken golden sands. Such a length provides for a plethora of activities from watersports to just sunbathing and simply walking around.

We talked about just the major Alvor beaches, rest assured there are quite many more things to discover in and around Alvor, read the rest of website to find out more.
