Even though the Alvor theme parks that we’ll be talking about aren’t located exactly in Alvor, the fishing village is very well positioned to access them. Actually from Alvor you can access some of the best theme parks in the entire region of the Algarve.
This is the largest water park not only in the Algarve, but in the entire country, spread across a massive 16,000 acres and an establishment that has consistently invested in its infrastructure and in its facilities in order to ensure that it maintains its spot as the best in the country.
The three main rides that are central to the park are called the Kamikaze, the Black Hole and the Banzai. Despite the rather frightening names, rest assured that all of them are very safe and carefully watched over by trainer personnel.
The water park offerst a plethora of recreation areas, such as an Olympic-sized swimming pool flanked by a Jacuzzi and a huge relaxation area where one can lounge around and sunbathe.
Those who come here will children will have a great time because the children’s area is very well designed, offering lots of interactive games and other water-related activities to entertain them for hours.
The Lagos Zoo
The Lagos Zoo is a relatively recent development in the region, having been established in 2000. The Zoo aims to conserve the environment and the natural habitat of its exhibits by educating those who visit here on the principles of conservation.
The approach of the Zoo is that of ‘small and friendly’, being much more about interacting closely with the Zoo’s inhabitants rather than volume and size.
There are 120 animal species housed here, that span five continents, with a bunch of brightly colored bird species being one particular attraction.
Somewhere around 200 different plant species can also be found here.
The Lagos Zoo is located just off the A22 coast road, so easily accessible with some Algarve car rental services.
